Rhema has her big Spina Bifida clinic in two weeks, so they wanted me to take her in for a urine check to be sure she did not have an UTI for her upcoming Urodynamics. So, the initial readings came back fine and I even felt a little foolish wasting the time to take her since she’s not have any of her classic signs of UTI. However, I wanted to follow the wisdom of our team members and go ahead out of precaution.
Well, as it happens Rhema’s urine came back with over 100 thou count of e-coli which is at the level in which you treat if your child has spinal cord injury! WOW! We had no idea…. I had noticed that she seemed restless at night, which is typically her only indication, but she had not cried at all and ended up in bed with me, so I assumed everything was okay. Praise the Lord for a great team of medical folks who have Rhema’s best at heart! So, on Thanksgiving eve, we began another round of antibiotics. I’m very uneasy as to why she keeps having recurrent UTIs and what this upcoming clinic will find on her ultrasounds. We do not have to intermittent cath thus far, but it may be time. The Lord knows what she needs and we pray for wisdom over all her medical team as we head into clinic. Please join us in prayer as we prep for clinic and as her team looks at her for the first time in six months. Thanks for all our prayer warriors out there!!!
