Okay, so I’m not sure how Mrs Erica gets her to use her thumb and index finger! Rhema keeps using her thumb and middle finger to pick things up! So, we are continuing to work on things and I’m just so happy that she is putting things “in” and not freezing up like she always did. I’m proud of her progress! I’ve got a wonderful video I’d love to post of her picking up her “pirate gold doubloons” and placing them in her cup. If her Early Interventionist, Stephanie, could see it she would beam with pride!
Also, it’s funny as it is becoming more and more apparent that she is ambidextrous! The OT kept saying that Rhema switches back and forth from hand to hand, and I’ve noticed it too, but just doing this activity I saw it happen a lot more regularly. She eats with her left hand and that is for sure set, but as far as writing and picking things up— it’s still a toss-up. They said ambidexterity ran in our family, but I’ve never seen it like this before! Choosing a side for writing is going to be challenging. I think after the first of the year we will have to choose for her and see if we can sway her that way.
