“I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, he who does not enter by the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up some other way (elsewhere, from some other quarter) is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. The watchman opens the door for this man, and the sheep listen to his voice and heed it; and he calls his own sheep by name and brings (leads) them out. When he has brought his own sheep outside, he walks on before them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. They will never [on any account] follow a stranger, but will run away from him because they do not know the voice of strangers or recognize their call.”
In my own words, …..The sheep (Rhema’s parents) follow Him (Jesus) because they know His (Jesus) voice…..
……they (Rhema’s parents) do not know, nor do they heed or recognize the voice of the thief/robber (the Enemy)…
I begin this post with this Bible verse as a preface to give insight as to how we pray and how we make decisions as a family. We have sought trusted council, sought out multiple medical specialist and have through it all, sought out the voice of our Precious Shepherd for guidance concerning Rhema’s big, impending surgery. After MUCH MUCH MUCH prayer and council, we have decided to postpone her surgery. We’ve spoken with her surgeon, who was supportive of our decision, and have set a new course concerning the health of Rhema’s feet/legs. Rhema will undergo another round of the Ponseti Method best known as “Serial Casting” followed by nightly use of a “Bar” to maintain the positioning gained via the casting. Once the casting is complete and we begin using the Bar we will re-evaluate the next course of action based on her feet and leg’s progress. It was through MUCH prayer and consideration we have chosen this course and we feel the Lord’s confirming peace resting upon us.
Prayer needs for this new course of treatment: protection from pressure sores for her legs and feet while casting, good response and positioning from the casting for her feet, Rhema to accept the use of the Positioning Bar at night while she sleeps, safe travel back and forth during all the casting changes, continued wisdom and discernment for us in next steps for our precious girl and continued wisdom, insight and skill to rest over Rhema’s surgeon and the casting technicians.
And on a fun note, we’ve decided to continue the “Stickers for Smiles Outreach” through Rhema’s casting weeks! We are very happy to have more time to gather stickers to bless our Children’s Hospital friends! We will post an update soon on our progress and also give the timeline for the new end date when we will happily deliver all of the amazing stickers! So, keep on sharing this Outreach opportunity with your friends, churches, civic groups, etc and let’s all get busy being the Miracle for the precious kids at Children’s!
Blessings to you all, our precious family and friends who pray!
