Okay, so OT continues at home, even if its sporadic and not as much as I’d like. Rhema’s sweet Grandma Sandy did a wonderful Easter basket for Rhema and inside the basket were several packs of stickers. So, momma got an old oatmeal container, covered it in aluminum foil and then showed Rhema how to peel the stickers off to decorate her container. I had to sit with her and work on her using her thumb and index finger and how to do each step. Rhema is still not a big fan of sticking things “on” paper or putting items “in” anything, so we keep working on it. Several months ago I bought some aquatic beads that had turtles, dolphins, and fish for Rhema to string or practice “putting-in”. After we decorated her container I got the beads and we worked on using her “crabby pincher” (thumb and index) to pick up the beads and put into the small opening on the top of her newly decorated container. I must have said “use your pincher” a thousand times! Rhema keeps going back to using her thumb and middle finger to pick items up with. She had OT coming up soon in clinic and we will just continue working on finger isolation and fine motor skills.
